KS4 Breakdown
Students in key stage 4 follow a curriculum that is planned over a 50 period fortnightly timetable.
Students are taught in 2 parallel ability bands called the X band and Y band.
Students study a combination of core subjects that are locked into the parallel ability bands and option subjects that are spread over the parallel ability bands.
Students currently select their KS4 option subjects in year 9, please see the options section of the curriculum website for more details regarding the process and subjects on offer.
In KS4 a small cohort of students will study a curriculum that is made up of core subjects, option subjects and college courses.
At KS4 students are set according to ability for English, maths, science and EP. PE is taught in mixed ability groups and subjects in the option blocks are generally mixed ability; unless student numbers are sufficient enough to allow setting to take place.
